When Junebug had first been asked to track down this bear, she’d been a little surprised. Then again the world tended to throw some sort of adventure after her. Though, she wasn’t sure if she could take a large injured bear on her own. The dire wolf furrowed her brows, Saijeta would know exactly what to do in a moment like this but she wasn’t here right now. June was left with trying to figure this out for herself. She didn’t exactly want to do it alone, but of course she had promised those poor felvargs she would do it. Their friend had been injured so what could she complain about. Then it felt like her thoughts had been answered, it looked like a brown felvarg was digging at the base of some bushes. She didn’t know what he was doing, but surely he’d be kind enough to help her track this bear. It wasn’t hard considering she could already smell the thick scent of blood in the forest.

“Excuse me?” She called as Smores lifted his head suddenly. His white saddle marking moved with his fur as he turned around. Dirt covering his nose as he smiled, June noticed a Hawk flying down and landing between his shoulders. She blinked as he happily walked closer shaking his head free of the dirt. “Hi.” June said, almost a little tongue tied as to what she should be telling the other. She had so many questions and had no time to really ask them.

“I’m sorry was I bothering you? I was trying to look for some berries honestly. Though the air around here seemed strange.” Smores shivered, he could smell the blood in the air. For a while though he’d thought to ignore it. Perhaps two felvargs were fighting each other and in all honesty that was none of his concern. Now that a bystander had come across him, he supposed it was his problem.

“There’s an injured bear out here in the forest. A hunting party actually was passing through when one of their members got hurt. He was bleeding pretty badly so they were a bit desperate. Since they wanted to look after him they asked if I could track and kill the bear. Since it’s probably in pain and bleeding out it could cause a lot of trouble not to mention it’s a bit sad to let it live. See the problem is I’m unsure if I could do it alone!” June whined a little, not sure what to do with at her wits end she looked at Smores and the Hawk on his shoulders. Smores continued to smile even after hearing the situation at hand.

“Of course I’ll help you, Seirsha too. I’m Smores by the way.” Smores introduced the hawk as well as himself. The brown hawk let out a caw. “See if you can get a better look for it Seirsha okay? But don’t go off trying to attack it.” He sternly warned her, she fluffed up her feathers in protest but took off anyway. Smores looked to Junebug as she smiled widely. She was so glad that it was him of all felvargs she’d run into. Having some help with such a task always helped. After all if a party of three got hurt what was to say that she could do it alone in the first place. Yet of course she was too nervous to tell no to an injured stranger, it was just cruel.

“Thank you so much, you can call my June my name’s Junebug.” Smore’s tail wagged at her introduction. He wasn’t going to say it out loud, but that was the most adorable name that he had ever heard. Considering Smores thought she was cute to begin with didn’t help. Regardless he looked over to the path and sighed, so he did suppose they should start by following the scent then.

“Well let’s follow the scent, if Seirsha sees the bear she’ll come to us, but for now that’s the best we can do. Hopefully it hasn’t reached any of the villages.” Smores spoke out in worry. June nodded her head as well. That was what they wanted to avoid, the bear needed to be taken care of as quickly as possible at this point. She watched as Smores walked onto the path, his head lifted and following the bloody scent. Making sure that it got stronger in the direction that they were trying to go in. June quickly followed behind, double checking to make sure that they weren’t getting off track. It was better safe than sorry especially when they could both get lost.

The two continued to follow the trail, each eagerly wanting to hunt down this bear. It wasn’t until Smores actually stopped at the sight of blood. It had dropped against the forest floor, the deep burgundy told him that they were a bit closer than they thought. Junebug got closer to Smores as she had her ears flicking. She was now a little worried about Seirsha. Smores had sent the little hawk to go find the bear right? How dangerous was that, then again Smores had warned her not to engage the bear. Hopefully the bird had listened. It was just when her thoughts were centered around the hawk though that she showed up. Giving a caw she landed onto Smores shoulder and he looked at her.

“You found it didn’t you?” He asked as the Hawk raised her wings in a definite yes. Smores had to swallow a bit. While he had happily agreed to this, he felt a bit heavy over it. His limbs were shaky, as June frowned she lowered her head. Getting a bit closer to him, she knew that this was a bit difficult. After all this time, the bear was turning into a mercy killing. It was a heavy part of their lives, despite the bear being a piece of prey. All life was important and it was also important knowing the weight of these things.

“It’s okay Smores, I’m here to help.” June said as Smores looked to her. She smiled and raised her head. This was a kind felvarg, she could tell. She was actually rather thankful she’d run into him. She wasn’t sure what she would have done if she had to run into any other felvarg that wasn’t too keen on helping her. She would have been left stranded and that wasn’t a fond thought. Smores smiled and nodded his head.

“Right, we can do this together. Lead the way Seirsha.” Smores asked the Hawk. She gave a call before lifting off, she didn’t stay too far into the air. Knowing that the dire wolves needed to be able to see her. This way they wouldn’t have to run around trying to find the scent of this injured Bear. Not that it would have been too hard - it was like the scent was beginning to invade his senses anyway. He turned to June and she nodded her head, both of them were ready. As they began in a run Seirsha able to keep up moving through the cracks in the trees to show the felvargs the way.

Smores stopped when he spotted the bleeding bear. The lumbering beast didn’t look like it had much fight in him left. His chest was heaving as June let out a soft gasp, Seirsha landed on a nearby branch, looking a bit sadly at the two of them. As Smores’ tail flicked off to the side, the bear still looked at them as if it was saying stay away. If they took any step forward than the thing would attack. Luckily enough the bear hadn’t travelled near any of the villages nearby. As Smores looked to June he took a deep breath and she nodded. Now was not the time to be second guessing themselves.

As June followed Smores into the line of fire, he aimed directly towards the creature’s throat. The bears eyes went wild as he retaliated, raising his powerful forepaws Smores was quick to try and get out of the way. Aiming for the throat as June went for the hind quarters. The Bear let out a roar as June bit into his flesh - Smores was finally able to get a clear shot for his throat. As he lunged forward and his jaws slammed shut on the throat of the giant animal. The bear gurgled as June shut her eyes not wanting to notice how heavy this felt.

Once the bear finally fell, Smores was able to release wheezing with his mouth covered in blood. He looked to make sure June was okay, the felvarg jumped off the bear and looked at him with a sad expression. Now though, the bear could rest in peace and in a way they’d avenged the hunting parties friend. Smores smiled towards June as he bumped into her rump.

“Come on you did the right thing.” he told her, as June smiled she raised her head.

“Yeah… you’re right… I did. Thank you smores for helping me.” She answered him as Smores nodded his head, it was really no problem.
